What a wonderful article! You really summed up the National Gallery's brand perfectly. I live it every day at my dream job as a graphic designer in the marketing department there. I happen to be art directing a photoshoot on Saturday and the room with the Canoe in it is on my shot list! Coincidence or a very Canadian moment? Nicely done Jared.

This is great read. It was interesting how you weaved in some of your personal journey with this. the idea of "brands" have saturated our everyday lives for better or worse. I often think we spend so much time aspiring to a brand as opposed to living a life of substance. Maybe it's the proliferation of the internet, less time with family, displacing religion & faith with something that is subversive if nothing else. Thank you for writing about Art because it's all a beautiful mess.
